I don't see the harm in googling someone to get a bit of background information. In the days before online dating nosy but well-meaning family and friends checked out potential dates but the world has got smaller. And even if you ARE armed with their surname, as was previously mentioned, there must be a  gadzillion people with the same name - particularly with traditional Irish names - some famous, some not, but can't imagine googling someone would give you ANY information about the ACTUAL person. And even if it did, how would you know which one was the one you were going on a date with? Like how disappointing would it be to think you were meeting up with some famous rock star or baseball player with the gorgeous pic on google, and then weaselly squinty eyed Mick O'Shea who works in the local supermarket turns up..... Anyway, would be interesting to know how many people actually voted, as 48% saying yes could mean 50 people voted? 24 people said they would, 26 wouldnt.... also voting yes could have meant *oh thats a good idea, never thought of that before,  must do that next time* without thinking of the inherrent problems mentioned before. So here's a question, HAS anyone actually googled someone before meeting them and/or gotten any useful information??
