Sex and City has reached it's sell by date
• 56% say Sex and the City franchise has reached its sell by date
• 73% say comedy is the best type of film to go to on a date
• 50% of men say they would not admit to going to see the film
Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte have all been given the thumbs down in a survey from Ireland's No 1. social dating site Maybefriends.com.
As the "Sex and the City 2" opens in cinemas across Ireland 56% of respondents told Maybefriends that the franchise had reached its sell by date.
However the survey reveals a real divide between the sexes in their response to the film. 85% of men say it is time to show the "Sex and the City" girls the door but 67% of women say they still want more.
But I'd say Ignore all the fashion and sex and you’ll find that the real heart of "Sex and the City" is the enduring friendship and loyalty between four very different types of women. I think that is why women all around the world have such affection for the franchise. We watched the Television programme, we saw the first film and now the second one gives us a great excuse for a girls night out"
However 64% of women said they would go to see the film but only with other girls. While half of the male respondents told Maybefriends.com that they would not tell their friends that they had been to see the film.
When asked if they would be happy to go on a date to see the film respondents more or less split down the middle with 51% saying Yes they would and 49% saying NO they would not.
73% said that Comedies were the best type of film to go to on a date. One respondent told Maybefriends.com that "it breaks the silence between you and can have a good laugh together" while another said that it helps "to see what the other persons humour is like". Thrillers were next with 12%, followed by horror with 8% and Chick Flick 7%. Sci Fi films received no votes at all.
