Chandler Bing Syndrome
I don't know if any of you ever saw the episode of Friends when Chandler goes out on a date with Rachel's boss. He doesn't really hit it off with her but can't tell her this. She, on the other hand, had a great night and really likes him. But Chandler - because he doesn't want to hurt her feelings and can't handle confrontation says to her: "That was great. We must do it again sometime. I'll give you a call."
Of course in Chandler's mind there is no way he is ever going to call her again but she takes him at his word and is hanging by the phone waiting for the call.
I bet this happens to lots of people - so my question to you is. What is the best way to let someone down gently?

Sometimes the only way to let someone down gentle is to be honest. I know it sucks if you get rejected after a first date, but I'd rather then than after 3 or 4.
