Dating in a recession

Well you can't avoid all the doom and gloom at the moment in the media and with the budget effects about to hurt our pockets we thought we'd try to come up with some money saving ways to date.
Here's a few ideas:
*When dating go for the healthy option. Walking is free and there is nothing like a nice long walk in the autumn chill followed by a warming hot chocolate for getting to know eachother.
*If you want to impress on your first date go shopping in vintage shops for an outfit or have a "swap shop" party with your friends where you can swap clothes and have an entire new wardrobe for free!
*If it's raining then opt for a coffee date, it's cheap and you can sit for hours while you get to know eachother.
*Online dating is much cheaper than a night out at just 20 Euro. It also saves on all those phone calls as you'll be typing not talking!
If you have any tips on cheap dates let us know. Remember the best comment wins a months free membership on Maybefriends.com. Last week's winner was Mrhazeleyes congratulations.

Remember to bring straws with you to the pub and share a pint of beer together. You can pretend its all very romantic.

Smuggle a flask of tea or coffee into those expensive coffee shops and you will save a fortune. You could also bring your own sandwiches as well. Just don't get caught by the staff.

If you're having a game of pool then make sure no one pots the white ball as the game will end. Keep it away from the pockets and your game can last for hours.

Feign agoraphobia to avoid going into those huge expensive shopping centres and wasting money.

During this time of recession we are all tightening our belts and not spending as much, trying to organise and buy Christmas pressies for famil and friends, trying to keep or car full with petrol, even dating could start been hit, A great way to save money and still meet people is if MBF organised a MEMBER ONLY NIGHT out with a FREE bar, I think that would really help us through these bad financal times :-) and save us a few bob here and there.....

If you don't mind skipping the alcohol, you find that sometimes pubs charge very little for a dash of orange, blackcurrent or lime in a pint of water... It can be free in some places too.. Now that will really same the cents for a date.. cheaper than coffee too..

Catching the bus to your destination and getting the last bus home is also cost saving to driving, the cost of petrol, paying for parking or getting a taxi home..

Just make sure you arrange for your date early in the day so you don't miss out on conversation time because you do miss the last bus...

Well, I find that careful planning and preparation before the date will reap enormous benefits.

When setting a date with your quarry, ALWAYS choose a restaurant that you have been to in the past. In this way, you will have had a chance to inspect the restaurant's toilets and you will know that there is a window that's large enough to crawl out through.

When gauging window size, remember that your belly will be significantly bigger after a hearty meal so make sure to include a contingency in your measurements.

If the date is going really well, you can tell your partner to head to her toilet at the same time as you and make good her escape. If it's not going well, then just leave her to it.
